Creating an Equitable, Diverse and Inclusive Organizational Culture.

As part of my LXD graduate certificate program, I created a pilot course for a faux client on building an organizational culture around EDI principles. I managed the project from end to end, from scoping the project to evaluating the results through continuous correspondence with the “SMEs and other stakeholders".

Audience: All employees at a faux retail company “South Balance”

Responsibilities: Instructional Design, Project management

Tools Used: MS Office, Canvas LMS, Cidi Labs, H5P

SET UP FOR SUCCESS

Employee Onboarding Program

I designed, developed, and delivered a 5 week onboarding program with three main components: a guide, calendar, and Canvas (LMS) course. The guide provides an overarching itinerary for new hires. It is used with the Outlook calendar that has scheduled meetings and appointment shadowing sessions. All this is supplemented by a comprehensive Canvas course that houses the learning content, assignments and assessments. The assigned activities and assessments include weekly reflections, content knowledge checks, a course scheduling exercise, and a video recording. These activities are designed to help new advisors practice and apply their new knowledge and skills before beginning their jobs.

BUILDING EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR HOLISTIC STUDENT SUPPORT

Employee Soft Skills Training Program

Working across departments with multiple stakeholders, I defined the scope of a training program to reinforce a holistic approach to student support for 40+ staff across two offices. Based on external reports, learner survey data, and customer feedback, we determined the need to focus on cultivating communication skills, beginning with effective listening. To ensure relevance and buy-in, I collected and incorporated feedback on the content from several learners before initiating the training. The format included pre-assigned readings and reflection questions, followed by in-person discussion and practice sessions and follow-up material.
